Project Runway: Auf’d and On

As our dear Heidi Klum repeats each week, in fashion, one day you’re in and the next, you’re out.

And then, apparently, you’re back in again.

In a really wretched twist, Holly Hobby, er, Angela and Vinny the Perv got a second chance. Luckily, they were even worse than before and got the boot. Along with our own Mr. Sparkle Kayne.

If anyone has seen the collections of Uli, Laura, Michael and Jeffrey from Fashion Week – and even if you haven’t – I’ve got a shameful secret.

I actually like Jeffrey’s collecton the best. Michael’s classey styles seem to only surface during the show’s challenges. The collection, from what I saw, was filled with hot pants, and not much else.

Let’s hope we see a better view next week.

Uli and Laura both go back to the well, doing the same stuff we’ve seen all season.

And then Tat Boy blows them out of the water with some really excellent pieces. Who knew he could design something more than just rock star togs?

It’s going to be an interesting finale, with our money split between our favorite, Michael, and the personality challenged Jeffrey.

Clear the Runway

Well, it’s getting down and serious now, folks. Vincent has, thankfully, been auff’d on “Project Runway.” For all the Kayne bashing about him being a tasteless rube, who was it that showed up with sofa material, glue and an Angela rosetta pasted to the back?

Couture fashions

Vincent (whose dress is on the left), what could you possibly have been thinking?
Then, Vinny the Perv had us grabbing the sick sack when he once again felt the need to share his carnal love for his creation.

Now to Okie prom queen Kayne’s gown. If only the front of the bodice hadn’t been so glittery. He did a great job on the skirt and the back was to die for. I think that Elle editor just has it in for him at this point.

I would have gone with Uli’s gown this time around, because it was couture. Which is a word I thought I knew until this episode. Means hand made. I thought it meant high fashion. My bad.

Anyway, sadly I’m guessing Kayne’s auff’d next week, bringing us to our final four of Michael (whose dress is in the middle), Uli, Laura and Jeffrey (whose dress is on the right). I try to like Jeffrey, but just can’t. I’m rooting for Michael right now.

Any thoughts?

Bonds Bounced

We all knew it could never last.

“Bonds on Bonds” ended production after Barry Bonds decided he wanted more control of the series.

Producers Tollin/Robbins Productions and ESPN decided it was time to break ties with the heavy hitter. The next show was to have focused on a behind-the-scenes look at Bonds hitting his 715th home run.

Spike TV has fast-tracked a new series based on the Marvel comic book “Blade,” which begins taping this spring and premieres in June.

“Blade” will be the network’s first original scripted series and has ordered 11 one-hour episodes in addition to the two-hour kick-off.

The title character is a half-man, half-vampire who uses his superhuman powers and skills to fearlessly battle the demonic creatures of the night in a blood-drenched crusade to prevent the ascendance of vampires

In other words, a perfect fit for Spike.

Malfoy to mobster

Going from Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” flicks to the vicious mobster Michael Caffee in the new Showtime series Brotherhood wasn’t much of a stretch for actor Jason Isaacs.

He told critics gathered at the winter press tour in Pasadena that he isn’t often recognized on the streets of Providence, R.I., where the series is shot.

” (Only) if I walk around with a velvet cape and a walking cane and long blond hair, generally — and a
small blue elf,” teased Isaacs

” That owl you always had in your trailer didn’t help matters,” joked co-star Ethan Embry

” What happens is kids don’t recognize me, the parents recognize me. They go, ‘Look, it’s Lucius Malfoy,’ ” Isaacs said. “And the kids look at the parents like they’re insane because what would Lucius Malfoy be doing shopping in a Providence shopping mall?”

Carnivale dead?

The HBO series “Carnivale” may be cancelled, but it’s not forgotten by its loyal fans.

Those fans want to know what another season would have looked like.

And so would “Carnivale” producer Scott Winant, who has moved on to Showtime’s “Huff.”

“If we could have gotten another season, the battle would have started between the good, (Ben Hawkins, played by Nick Stahl) and the evil (Sofie, played by Clea DuVall), says Winant. “I think we were going to have a great season. I still miss that series.”

As do we all.

Spam Man

Hank Azaria arrived from New York to chat with critics gathered at the winter press tour about his Showtime series “Huff.”

He’s currently starring on Broadway in “Spamalot” as Sir Lancelot, which garnered Azaria a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.

But would he want to continue that role when the show opens in Las Vegas?

“When it goes to Vegas, it will be shortened and turned into more than a revue than a play, and that doesn’t interest me as much,” Azaria says.

So he wouldn’t consider it?

“I didn’t say that,” smiled Azaria. “A month in Vegas? And if they backed that money truck up to my door, it would be hard to say no.”

Utah can’t be all bad

Rosie O’Donnell isn’t making any snap judgements about the state of Utah, despite the fact that a prominent theater owner pulled the movie “Brokeback Mountain,” about a love affair between two cowboys, from his theaters.

O’Donnell, who was in Pasadena talking to TV critics about her new HBO series “All Aboard! Rosie’s Family Cruise” about the first gay and lesbian family cruise line, said she’s going to Utah for the upcoming Sundance Film Festival.

She was asked if the conservative nature of Utah makes the openly gay O’Donnell feel strange going there.

“Not really,” O’Donnell says. “I mean, the Osmonds are from there. That’s enough for me to like it.”
