“High School Musical: Summer Session” auditions

OK all you wannabe Disney stars, we’ve finally got news on the open casting calls for the new realty show “HSM: Summer Session.”

The West Coast auditions will be taking place on Sunday, April 27 at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA. The East Coast casting call will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The exact location is the Champion Stadium at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex.

Both of these open auditions will form part of the early episodes of the series. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 22 is welcome to give it a shot at the open calls (if you are under 18, you must bring your parent or legal guardian) and can download an application and view eligibility requirements here.

The series debuts at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20 on ABC, and runs Sundays and Mondays for three weeks, then continues Mondays through mid-September. The producers welcome anyone and everyone aged 16-22 who has dreamed of being center stage.

The finalists will ultimately participate in a summer music program to hone their skills, and one talented newcomer will receive the opportunity to become part of the “High School Musical” family.

Bay Area Disney Auditions

Could you be the next Hannah Montana or Gabriella Montez?

Producers of an upcoming Disney Channel live-action comedy series are on a search for comedic actors between the ages of 12-17 to potentially be cast in an upcoming pilot.

The open auditions will take place in San Francisco, Sunday October 21 at 9:00 a.m. at Beau Bonneau Casting, located at 84 First Street, at the cross street of Mission Street.

Girls and boys between the ages of 12-17 are invited to audition. For applications and more information, just click here.

There is no fee to audition, and all applicants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The first 250 kids will be registered to audition.

During the auditions the actor will be asked to perform three different 15-second original characters that will allow them to demonstrate their sketch comedy ability.

Vanessa, Vanessa, Vanessa

Here’s a tip for any young woman no matter if you are a celebrity or not: Please don’t flash the privates.

It’s bad enough when you decided to bare the bod for passing motorists on a whim, or go a little wacky on spring break, but when you take an actual photo of yourself standing in the all together, someone’s going to post it on the Internet.

And if you’re a celebrity, you can’t even trust your best pals.

But I applaud “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens, because she didn’t lie about what she did. She owned up to her mistake, and we hope that counts for something when those holding the keys to the Mouse Kingdom decide if they still want to be in business with her.

In a statement to “Extra,” Vanessa says, “I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me. I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”

Give her break. And to think, she was so happy at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards with her boyfriend on screen and in real life, Zac Efron. The phone-a-photo, we assume, was supposed to go for his eyes only:

More High School Musical

Once is never enough, so tune in to another showing of “High School Musical 2” at 8 p.m. Thursday on the Disney Channel.

And maybe this time you’ll spot the special cameo by “Hannah Montana” herself, Miley Cyrus.

Miley’s in the finale musical number. Her role was a result of a poll at DisneyChannel.com, where viewers cast a total of 45 million votes that determined certain elements of the “High School Musical 2.”

The questions included, “Which ‘Hannah Montana” star would you like to see in the movie?”

Like that would be a hard one to predict…

High School Rules

Was there any doubt that “High School Musical 2” would rock the ratings?

ZAC EFRON ROCKS IT IN “HSM2″

The foot-stompin’ sequel to the phenomenally successful “High School Musical” had more buzz than bee-keepers convention, with newspapers and magazines going wacky with anticipation.

But that was nothing compared to the temblors being felt across the country by young viewers clearing out their social calendars for the event of the season.

WHO CAN RESIST YOUNG LOVE? NOT TROY (EFRON) OR GABRIELLA (VANESSA HUDGENS)

The Friday night debut of “HSM2” on The Disney Channel ranks as the most watched basic cable telecast every, drawing 17.2 million viewers. The previous record-holder was ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” game on 9/23/06 (16.0 million).

It also stands as the most-watched telecast on record for kids 6-11 and the most watched entertainment telecast of all time for 9 to 14-year old viewers.

Oh, and “HSM3” is already in the works

High School Romance

So how’s that romance going between “High School Musical” stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens?

The cast popped up at the Beverly Hilton today to chat with TV critics about “High School Musical 2,” which premieres Aug. 17 on The Disney Channel.

The two are playing coy with reporters, with Vanessa simply showing those pretty dimples and pleading no comment on her personal life. In the middle of a reporter crush, Zac was asked about the romance that has been dubbed the Brangelina of the teen set.

I refer to them as VanZac and after getting some considerable face time with them, have decided they are every bit as gorgeous as the aforementioned Brangelina. And they are both as nice as you can imagine.

Think of Zac as the Tom Hanks of the teen set.

“At 19, I don’t want to be the guy who has the relationship headlines all over the magazines,” Zac says. “Maybe in the future it might be something I want to talk to the press about.”

Zac’s film career is blistering hot right now, with “Hairspray” coming out next week and the announcement that he’s been named as the lead in the new version of “Footloose.”
