Tom Sinkovitz back in the Bay Area
Former KRON-Channel 4 anchor Tom Sinkovitz joins KNTV-Channel 11 as a political reporter and fill-in anchor. He starts Wednesday live from Republican debates in LA and Thurs from Democratic debate.
Tom’s been missed since his departure from KRON back in Sept. 2006. You can check out the details on the Peninsula Press Club site.
Folks have been wondering where he would turn up. Good to hear it’s back on his old stomping grounds.
Tom and his brother Jim, who is also a TV news man, at a recent high school reunion.
Emmy award-winning Tom began his career with the Armed Forces Vietnam Network when he was in Saigon in 1969. Before coming to the Bay Area eighteen years ago, he anchored and reported in Pennsylvania, Cincinnati, Baltimore and Atlanta.
He won an Emmy award for his coverage of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion. He also reported live from the Nashville campaign headquarters of then Vice President Al Gore on the infamous election night of November 2000.

Mr. Sinkovitz moderated a panel discussion about veteran affairs at the Oakland Museum in November 2004 as part of the museum’s Vietnam Conflict exhibit. He was very approachable. I recall talking to him about his work with Pat Sajak in Vietnam. Incidentally, a brief clip from his days at WXIA-TV in Atlanta (1986) can be found at 80stvthemes.com, on the “Potpourri” page.

I was pleased to see him but I have to admit since I don’t watch Channel 4 anymore I was not aware how long he had been gone. He comes across as a very down to earth person. Seeing him reminds me of Pete Wilson and how much I miss all of them together as they once were.

I am writing in regard to the termination of John Farley from KNTV11.
I will no longer be viewing ANY NBC newscast. John Farley was the main reason I chose your newscast over the many local stations available to me in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am an avid weather watcher and his broadcasts were more accurate than the Weatherbug and The Weather Channel, which I followed assiduously along with John to see which source came in on the money. Four out of five times, it was Farley.
So management of NBC, network of many screwups, take your station and SHOVE IT.
